Irrigation

Customized Design

Our experienced designers carefully determine all aspects of the system before anything in the field is started. During the design process, we carefully:

  • Assess the unique watering requirements of your lawn, gardens, planters and shrubbery
  • Select sprinkler head types and positioning to guarantee proper coverage
  • Evaluate your water source and available water pressure
  • Calculate the appropriate number and types of watering zones
  • Determine controller location for ease of access

Professional Installation

We insist on using the highest quality, professional grade products from the leading irrigation manufacturers including Hunter, Rainbird and Toro. Whenever possible, we use a vibratory plow for “trenchless” pipe installation to minimize the disruption to your property.

We pay close attention to unseen details, making sure that we:

  • Use only top-quality, NSF and ASTM certified pipe and fittings
  • Safeguard the electrical components with special, waterproof wire connections
  • Backfill trenches without debris and rocks that can damage the pipe
  • Provide proper grounding for controllers

We are also meticulous about what is visible, making sure that we:

  • Properly groom, compact and clean up trenches, holes and vibratory plow routes
  • Install sprinkler heads and valve boxes level to the grade
  • Position sprinkler heads at a consistent distance off hardscape and bed edges
  • Neatly install controllers and above ground piping to your pump or city water hook up

Follow Up

We will train you to use your new sprinkler system and provide an appropriate watering schedule. We also provide an “as-built” drawing to document the approximate location of sprinkler heads, valves, piping, etc. Lastly, we are available throughout the warranty period, at no charge, to consult or answer questions.

Maintenance and Repair

We offer a variety of maintenance services to keep your system running to its fullest potential. Maintaining irrigation systems is one of the most effective ways to reduce wasted water, reduce pollution from run-off and over-irrigation, and improve plant health by applying the correct amount of water where it can be utilized by the landscape. A well-maintained and properly adjusted system is essential for a healthy, beautiful, landscape.

Summit Irrigation and Lighting, services all brands. So even if we didn’t install your system, you can take advantage of our expert services. We have experienced irrigation systems technicians that repair broken irrigation heads, perform irrigation systems repair, replace irrigation pumps, update your irrigation timers, winterize your system and much more. A properly maintained automatic sprinkler system is key to efficient water conservation and beatification of your lawn and landscape.

We also offer yearly winterization service contracts. Sign up in the fall and let us keep your irrigation system free of freeze damage.  We will then start it up in the spring and keep it in top shape for the rest of the season!

Spring Start Ups

Between March and May, we recommend our spring start-up service to get your sprinkler system up and running for the season. We will check all the components to ensure your system is fully functional for the watering season. We will set watering times and run through each zone to check for optimum sprinkler coverage. This service includes:

  • Repressurizing the irrigation system’s water source(s)
  • Inspecting the plumbing and connections at water source(s)
  • Turning on each active zone to evaluate whether adjustments or repairs are needed
  • Making repairs to system components (valves, lines, sprinkler heads, etc.)
  • Adjusting existing sprinkler heads as needed for optimal coverage
  • Checking the rain sensor for proper operation
  • Programming the controller and setting an appropriate watering schedule

Scheduling your spring start-up depends on the weather conditions and your individual watering needs. Please contact us early to schedule this service as spring is our busiest season. If you would like your system started by a certain date, we recommend that you contact us a few weeks before so that we can better accommodate your request.

Mid-Season Inspections

Mid-season inspections are aimed at those customers who want regular maintenance checks to keep their irrigation systems running at their peak performance. Our service technician will inspect each zone, check for signs of a problem, and adjust any sprinkler heads for optimum coverage.

Winterizing System

The most important thing you can do to protect your irrigation system from freeze damage is to have it professionally winterized each fall. As winter approaches, you need to take steps to protect your irrigation system from expensive damage caused by freezing temperatures. Systems that are not properly winterized will likely need costly repairs the next spring. Summit Irrigation offers a comprehensive winterization & sprinkler blowout service.

Pump Testing & Repair

We specialize in irrigation pump repair and service including pump winterization with a warranty against freeze damage.

Drip Irrigation

Drip irrigation is a great option for shrubs and planting areas. We can install drip irrigation as part of your irrigation system. We can also repair drip irrigation lines in your irrigation systems.

Backflow Valve Repair

Your backflow valve is a critical part of your irrigation system. A backflow valve typically resides between your home’s main water supply connection and your sprinkler system to prevent any backwards water flow. This specialized valve ensures that your potable or drinking water source is not contaminated with debris or chemicals from the gardening area. However, backflow valves fail over time from daily wear and pressure — water leaks commonly start between the cover’s connection point and valve body. Also, if a backflow is not properly winterized it can crack and fail resulting in the need for expensive backflow repair and/or replacement.

Backflow preventer devices are designed to protect your water system from potentially toxic pollutants, so it is critical to keep them operating properly. If your backflow valve body has a crack, you must replace the entire valve rather than repairing the internal components. The crack allows water to leak from the valve, causing possible water contamination and unnecessary waste.

Please make sure to call us as soon as possible if your backflow needs repair or replacement. We have the right technicians and the right parts to take care of your backflow!

System Additions/Changes

If you’ve made changes to your landscape, it’s a good idea to have us review the design of your current irrigation system. From a simple head change to the addition of entire zones, our technicians will work with you to optimize turf and plant coverage.
